Joy Bennett is owner of Bright Yoga, and co-director of the Yoga Teacher Training Programs. She is a Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master. Joy began practicing Yoga in 1997 and became a registered Yoga Teacher in 2010. Shortly thereafter she opened The Joyous Soul Yoga in Ramona, CA. “The Joyous Soul” had become a well-known and very well-attended establishment in her local community. Within just a few short years, with the patronage of the community The Joyous Soul was able to evolve in Bright Yoga. In 2014, Joy renamed the studio “Bright Yoga”, and it’s a fitting replacement. Joy is of Russian descent, and the pronunciation of the word “vagabond” in Russian is exactly that… “bright-yoga.” Joy always wanted to take the studio global and liked the Vagabond likeness.
Joy believes very strongly in the power of yoga, and to that end she encourage people of every age to practice it. Our lives are built around hectic schedules and trying to do many things for many people, and the time we allow for ourselves and our own well-being is precious and limited. Yoga is a wonderful way to slow down, breathe and relax. Because Joy is so passionate about the practice being accessible to all she is a very active yoga volunteer in addition to running her studio. Joy has volunteered teaching Yoga to patients and families in the Oncology Unit at Children’s Hospital , elementary students with special needs, provided classes for Elementary students through the Sean O' Shea foundation, which guides youth in the understanding of yoga basics and how yoga can be part of a healthful lifestyle and taught adults with traumatic brain injuries Yoga. She currently holds community classes at her local library weekly.
Lois Niven is Bright Yoga graduate RYT 200 hour Yoga Instructor as well as a MELT Method Hand & Foot Instructor. She loves sharing the insights of these two transformative practices while keeping things fun and light.
Lois has found that for her, the key to uniting mind, body & spirit is to empower the body to be strong and confident while remaining at ease. Her regular yoga practice balances yin and yang — trying and letting go. By also having a MELT practice, she’s found the asana aspect of yoga can be done with more flexibility, ease and grounding. The typical aches and pains of aging need not limit your yoga practice or any activity you enjoy!
Lois’ “MELT into Vin Yin” class is a perfect way to incorporate MELT to enhance a balanced yoga practice. The vinyasa portionprovides challenge with modifications at a 2/3 level. The class then slows way down to holding yin poses for several minutes, allowing further release of tension. MELT tools provided.
Lois is also available for private yoga and/or MELT classes.
Tammi started practicing yoga for the first time in July of 2015 right here at Bright. From the moment she began attending classes she became a fixture in the studio and our yoga community. As she wrote in her November 5, 2015 review on our website:

In July of 2016, Tammi enrolled in the first group of teacher trainees at Bright School of Yoga! During her 200 Hour YTT studies the path of Karma yoga revealed itself to her heart. A path which informs and encourages her sense of social justice through additional certification in Trauma-Informed YTT for those who suffer from PTSD, domestic violence, and sexual assault survivors. A path that provides deeper avenues to her heart-centered living. Most importantly, she is deeply grateful to now be part of the supportive teachers fostering safe spaces for others to breathe, stretch and grow here at Bright Yoga.
Anna has been practicing yoga for 7 years. She turned to yoga to help her in her struggle against anxiety & panic attacks. Her yoga practice totally relieved her of all her symptoms, therefore changing her life. After seeing what yoga could do for her, she knew she had to teach it! Anna believes anyone can do yoga, so she started workshops for people who are unsure where to start. "Yoga school for beginners" launched this year! Her favorite quote is "Fall in love with yoga and you'll fall in love with yourself" Anna is a RYT 200hrs
Julie teaches with a background of over 25 years group fitness experience. Come to any of Julie's classes and feel her enthusiasm and joy of teaching yoga. Her classes will keep you moving thru a variety of poses, balances, and strength moves. Tighten and tone, improve or maintain strength and flexibility all thru your yoga practice. Everyone is welcome. Option are offered to accommodate your needs.
Feenyx Thayer is a certified Yoga Teacher and Aerial Yoga Teacher at Bright Yoga. She has her completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, 40 hour of Aerial Teacher Certification, and 3 hours of extended advanced certification. Along with yoga she is also a Holistic Health Practitioner and Massage Therapist with over 1000 hours of training in her field.
She is big believer in building self confidence, strength, and body awareness in children and adults. Her favorite part of her job is enjoying the smiles and laughter in all her studentsas they complete their personal goals as they fly through the air.
Charlotte Van Noordt
Charlotte Van Noordt is the President, Owner, Therapist, and Instructor of CVN Workplace Solutions (Corporate Wellness) and Akashas Vedanta Ashram (Yoga, Meditation, Retreats & Workshops).
Charlotte had a successful career working mainly in the defense industry and spent some time in the resort industry. Since 2007, her passion has been in the holistic health field. She has spent over 20 years practicing yoga and has over 2,500 hours training with well-respected teachers and schools in the fields of massage, yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda. Charlotte received her Level I KY TT in 2014, Level II Mind & Meditation KY TT Certification in 2016 and her Level II Stress & Vitality KY TT Certification in 2017. She is working towards her 500hr KY TT with a goal of one day becoming a Kundalini Research Institute Aquarian Lead Trainer. She is also currently pursuing a BA in Entrepreneurship at American Military University.
Charlotte’s passion rests in teaching groups anywhere, anytime, to live the most vibrant version of themselves through simple, yet impactful tools. She is a full-time wife to her husband Timothy and mom to their 2-year-old daughter, Akasha.
Janice's first adventure into yoga was 1977 in Ocean City, NJ, with Shanti Desai. After moving to California she continued to take Hatha classes in Escondido. Her most recent experience, Ramona, taking Svaroopa and again Hatha. In 2016 Janice made the decision to complete her 200 hour certificate at Bright Yoga.
Yin and Hatha are Janice's favorite styles. Currently she teaches a weekly Yoga Basics and a Serenity Yin Class at Bright Yoga. She also combines painting and yoga at workshops and retreats.
Andrea Rumery’s 20 year career in Massage Therapy and Teaching Reiki has lead her to successfully graduate Bright Yoga’s Teacher Training Program. She is passionate about learning new ways to teach others how to decrease pain, correct body posture, balance, and increase inner peace.Andrea Rumery, LMT; RYT
Nicole Holloway is a head-over-heels-in love wife of a fighter pilot, homeschooling mother of six, and chocoholic health-nut who needs yoga to keep her strong and sane. After leaving the Marine Corps in 2007 as a Captain, she dedicated her life to raising a healthy family and helping others do the same for the glory of God. Her former certifications include Yoga Fit, PiYo, ACE Personal Trainer and she has a BA in Aerospace Engineering. Most recently, she is a proud graduate of Bright Yoga School’s first class of Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT 200.) Power Yoga suits her high-energy personae best; however, she has learned to recognize how beneficial other forms such as Yin and Swaroopa, are to her body, mind and spirit. The thing she likes best about Yoga is that it is not rocket science; it is for everybody!
This yoga class is "where Bliss happens". It is a practice in Non-doing, Releasing and Letting go. You will learn to let the "Yoga do You" by practicing deceptively simple, supported poses and movements to get to the Bliss and healing within. The class is taught in the Svaroopa(r) Style tradition by Susie Hollister-Schell Svaroopa (r) trained Yoga teacher, E-RYT500.
